Interpretation hub at Pont Marteg

Gilfach interpretation hub first concept design

First stage in developing a hub design

A group of volunteers and staff had a very constructive day of meetings and discussions at Gilfach yesterday. With Red Kite ( the interpretation consultants) we talked about our favourite places, stories of the reserve and what we thought were our key messages. We already have complete trust in Sarah and Peter's ability to understand our aspirations for Gilfach and help us implement some really great interpretation.

With the architect Arwyn George, we looked at his initial concept drawings for an interpretation hub and then went down to Pont Marteg and to imagine it on site.  He had really understood our brief and amazingly we all liked his 'Option A' which was curvy and contoured with the landscape. I'm so pleased that we can already progress with putting detail into the design.

We are really pleased with our choice of consultants to help us with our Heritage Lottery Fund project and are excited to see how it all develops over the next couple of months. And today we had an inspirational meeting with Shan from Celf O Gwmpas about collaborating on a project at Gilfach as part of the project. I really think we're going to do some great things.
