About the event

Are you a local landowner interested in learning how you can manage your farm for the benefit of nature? Or are you skeptical of implementing nature first farming practices within your farm system, but open-minded and willing to see how it works on other farms? We are organising a trip to visit two farms in Herefordshire that sit on different parts of the nature-friendly / rewilding scale.

We’re also taking the opportunity to demonstrate and celebrate high quality, local food produce! That’s why lunch will be provided by one of the farms, free of charge for attendees: wood pasture fed White Park beef pies made with their own heritage flour, and a foraged salad on the side. Followed by a desert and accompanied by the best of local drinks.

This trip is all about bringing local landowners together to share learning, have open discussion, and ask questions. We want to explore whether rewilding and farming can work together, and gain insight into people’s perceptions of rewilding, agri-wilding, regenerative farming… and everything in-between! We know that the different terminology can be confusing or off-putting for some people, and that there is not one correct answer or way of doing things! Every farm system is different, but we would just like to showcase why and how some farmers are transitioning to more nature friendly farm systems and rewilding principles.

If you are interested in attending, please email us via chloe@rwtwales.org and briefly tell us who you are, where you farm, and why you would be interested in attending. If you are also comfortable to do so, feel free to give a brief description of your farm size and the type of farm system.

Please note that attendee numbers for this trip are limited. Therefore, we cannot guarantee you a space. We will be in touch to let you know whether you have been successful.

Please note that your farm size and system will not affect your chance of gaining a space on this trip. This trip is aimed at any type of farmer, whether you have an organic farm, a small holding, an intensive farm, or you are a tenant farmer. The only requirement is an interest in visiting two farms with open-minded curiosity and a willingness to respect other people’s opinions.

Transport will not be provided. However, lift sharing can be organised where possible.

Please note that as this trip is being organised as part of a project, it will involve a cameraman attending the trip and interviewing some farmers for an educational/ promotional video. Not everyone will need to be interviewed, but to attend the trip we will need your consent to be filmed as you could still end up in background footage. But, if you also agree to be interviewed, this is a brilliant opportunity to represent the farming community, voice your opinions, and share what you have learnt with a wide audience... having a positive impact on others!

This trip has been funded by Radnorshire Wildlife Trust’s Cultivating Change in the Uplands Project, thanks to Rewilding Britain’s Innovation Fund.
